Yesterday, 23 November, the conference "Civil Protection: from prevention to emergency management" was held at Villa Burba in Rho, in the province of Milan. It was organised by the local Civil Protection Department in collaboration with the voluntary associations COR Protezione civile, Rho Soccorso and Gruppo Alpini di Rho.

The event focused on climate change and its impact on the population and the environment; meanwhile, it was an opportunity to consider the role of the local system of civil protection in the prevention and management of emergencies.

The event's guests included meteorologists, climatologists, representatives of institutions and the voluntary sector, who exchanged views on the climate issue and the consequences of rising temperatures in Italy and in the territory of Rho in particular, which in recent months has been hit by heavy storms and tornadoes. These phenomena, which are becoming increasingly frequent, are calling on the entire community, from institutions to citizens, to take an active role in the prevention and mitigation of the natural risks to which the territory is subject, so that together we can all contribute to reducing their impacts.

The event, the first of a series of meetings on civil protection matters, is an appropriate continuation of the I don't take risks National Days held in October, and in the coming months will also see the involvement of local schools with meetings and activities aimed at involving the youngest students in the themes of prevention and response to climate change.
