I don't take risks: national days on May 20 and 21 have been confirmed
Volcanic and forest fire risk town squares will be held in 5 regions

While the work of the National Civil Protection Service continues non-stop to bring aid and assistance to the people affected by the floods, the commitment to spread the culture of prevention does not stop: on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21, civil protection volunteers will be in about 20 squares from north to south of the country with the national campaign "I don't take risks" to talk about good civil protection practices.
The dramatic situation of these days of exceptional bad weather confirms once again how the challenge of climate change determines more and more extreme and more frequent events: very dry seasons, combined with an increased forest fires risk, and extraordinary rainfall, with consequent floods, are two sides of the same coin. Also, the areas covered by fire then become more vulnerable to hydrogeological risk. The May appointment of " I don't take risks - Good practices of civil protection" will be in the streets tomorrow and the day after to meet the population and spread awareness of the risks of the territory and the culture of prevention, in the belief that more aware and informed citizens can make a difference and make their communities safer. The May event, which will take place only in some of the planned regions, is dedicated in particular to volcanic risk in the area of the Phlegrean Fields and forest fire risk.
Squares in Emilia-Romagna, and those run by organized volunteer associations in other regions that have intervened in flooded areas, are postponed. Also postponed are the squares in some regions affected by weather-hydro alerts: at this link:: https://iononrischio.protezionecivile.it/it/mappa/giornate-nazionali-20-21-maggio-2023/ you can see the interactive map with the confirmed squares.
"I don't take risks" is promoted by the Department of Civil Protection with Anpas (National Association of Public Assistance), Ingv (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology), Reluis (Network of University Laboratories of Earthquake Engineering), Cima Foundation (International Center in Environmental Monitoring), Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces and ANCI, the National Association of Italian Municipalities.
