On October 15 and 16, more than 8,000 civil protection volunteers will be engaged in about 600 Italian municipalities.

More than 8,000 civil protection volunteers will be engaged, in about 600 Italian municipalities, to inform citizens about the risks that the territory in which they live is exposed to and to illustrate good behaviors to put into practice in case of flood, earthquake or tsunami. In municipalities of the Phlegraean area and on the islands of Vulcano and Stromboli, volunteers will also inform the population about volcanic risk. The physical squares will be complemented by an equal number of digital squares where, through social media, remote meeting platforms and live interventions, citizens and volunteers will be able to discuss risk awareness and prevention.

For the second year running, the campaign will be enriched with a digital event organized by the Civil Protection Department, in collaboration with the Roberto Rossellini State Cine-Tv Institute in Rome. A live streaming transmitted on the campaign's and the Department's social media channels on the morning of Oct. 15, will provide citizens with additional insights and useful reflections on the Campaign's themes and good civil protection practices.

The campaign, this year in its 12th edition, was awarded the \"Medal of the President of the Republic\" by Head of State Sergio Mattarella.

An educational and informative initiative on natural risks that, emphasizes the Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabrizio Curcio: \"is of strategic importance in terms of non-structural prevention because awareness of risks and knowledge of the correct behaviors to adopt in case of emergency represent indispensable tools that citizens can be equipped with to play an active role in prevention. Moreover, in a context such as the italian one, which is already fragile in itself and appears increasingly compromised by ongoing climate change, it is necessary for every citizen to do his or her part by reducing his or her exposure to risk. For some time now - and the chronicles of the last few months confirm this - we have been recording a significant increase in extreme events; all this requires us to convert what we call a \"culture of prevention\" into a daily practice for every individual and community choice. Prevention must become the center of the choices we are called upon to make on a daily basis. When we buy a house, for example, or when we enroll our child in school, we must ask ourselves what risks might affect that area and make an informed choice.\"

Io non rischio - I don't take risks is promoted by the Department of Civil Protection with Anpas (National Association of Public Assistance), Ingv (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology), ReLuis (Network of University Laboratories of Earthquake Engineering), Cima Foundation (International Center in Environmental Monitoring), Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces and ANCI, National Association of Italian Municipalities.
